The University of South Alabama (USA) Health System is comprised of a more than 400-bed medical center and a children’s and women’s hospital with about 150 beds. USA Medical Center serves southern Alabama, southern Mississippi and parts of northwest Florida, and is the teaching hospital for the University of South Alabama. In addition to a Level I trauma center, USA Medical includes centers devoted to treating burn injuries, stroke patients, and sickle cell disease. The USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital is one of six facilities of its kind in the country. The system also operates a cancer institute and a multi-specialty physician’s group.
