ESG/Ethical Impact

The Fresh Market believes it important to reiterate to employees and guests alike that our company maintains an unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace – and does not condone discrimination of any kind. We are steadfast in treating all guests and employees fairly and with the utmost respect. We are an advocate for inclusive communities free of discrimination, whether based on race, gender, national origin, ethnicity, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, creed, genetic information, pregnancy, uniformed service, or veteran status. Creating The Fresh Market experience requires lots of energy. By keeping a close track on how much energy we use, we can learn how to conserve more and consume less. By replacing traditional halogen lights with LED bulbs in our stores, we dramatically decrease the amount of electricity we consume. Each store averages an annual energy savings of 107,800 kWh from halogen bulbs and 28,600 kWh from LED bulbs. Thanks to the use of energy saving practice, we’re able to curb the amount of CO2 and other gasses, created by our stores. In fact, the reduction would be equivalent to removing more than 1,376 passengers cars from the road for a year. Each store averaging annual carbon reduction of .76 per case in 2012 and .62 per case in 2013. Containers, cans, cardboard boxes, and much more. These are just some of the ways products at The Fresh Market are packaged and presented to customers. Over the years, we’ve strived to reduce waste throughout our stores. At The Fresh Market, we want to delight our guests and create an enjoyable shopping environment. As part of our core hospitality value, we respectfully request that guests refrain from bringing firearms into our stores. While we comply with all federal, state and local firearm laws, and respect the rights of all our guests, this request is to ensure that we create a warm and welcoming environment for all store team members and guests. Thank you for your cooperation. The Fresh Market believes in giving back to our communities to help make them a better place for all to live. We do this with in-kind giving and through programs with long-term focus on hunger-related causes. We have aligned our company as a “Mission Partner” with Feeding America®. They are the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States, with a network of 200 foodbanks that feed 40 million people at risk of hunger, including 12 million children and 7 million seniors.
