Tandy Leather has built a business turning hides into a cash cow. The company makes, distributes, and sells leather goods and related products, such as leatherworking tools, buckles and belt supplies, leather dyes, saddle and tack hardware, do-it-yourself craft kits, suede lace, and fringe. Its Retail Leathercraft unit, which generates more than 50% of sales, operates about 75 retail leathercraft stores under the Tandy Leather banner that cater to leatherworking hobbyists in the US and Canada. It also sells merchandise online. The company also operates some 30 wholesale stores across in North America. Tandy Leather Factory was founded in 1980 as Midas Leathercraft Tool Co.

Tandy Leather works with our suppliers to help ensure their practices support our values and policies, including compliance with the Securities Exchange Commission’s final rule regarding sourcing of tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold (CM) under Section 1502 of the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. This requires any Securities and Exchange Commission registrant that manufactures or contracts to manufacture products containing any (CM) that are necessary to the functionality or production of such products to conduct a “country of origin” inquiry reasonably designed to determine whether the (CM) in such products originated from the Democratic Republic of the Congo or adjoining countries (DRC Region). If so, the registrant must undertake due diligence on the source and chain of custody of its products and may be required to file a conflict minerals report with the SEC that discloses whether such products contain (CM) that directly or indirectly finances or benefits armed groups in the DRC Region.
