The health of our environment plays a critical role in human health and well-being. Naturally, our vision of building healthier communities includes a commitment to environmental sustainability. Climate change poses a significant risk to human health. Signify’s efforts to reduce emissions include a focus not only on our direct operations, but on our partners and service providers. In 2021, our mobile network of more than 10,000 clinicians conducted more than 1. 9 million in-home health evaluations. To reduce the transportation-related emissions associated with these visits, Signify has developed a technology platform that combines Google Maps with our own proprietary mapping software to calculate the shortest driving distance to each location. At the management level, the Quality & Social Impact Report committee — composed of individuals representing a cross section of organizational roles and responsibilities — ensures that we identify and address key quality and social impact issues. Sound governance, transparency, and accountability are paramount in our efforts to provide value to all of our stakeholders. Our board of directors is responsible for the oversight of quality and social impact issues. Our Standards of Conduct apply to all employees, officers, and directors, and ensure that everyone who represents Signify adheres to the appropriate standards of ethical conduct. The human and financial costs from our inefficient healthcare system are sobering. Americans spend more money per capita on healthcare than any other nation, yet we are seeing an overall reduction in life expectancy, and increasing rates of chronic disease and preventable hospitalizations. Those living in lower socioeconomic households and communities face substantially higher risks and a multitude of health challenges, with less access to the care and support needed to overcome them. We support and promote efforts to ensure the availability of, and reliance on, high quality data and science in guiding policies and practices to address healthcare inequities. The data we analyze and share contributes to our customers’ and government’s understanding of the social and clinical variations that exist in the diverse populations they entrust to us.
