Founded in 2000 by Stanford-trained Dermatologists, Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields, Rodan + Fields was envisioned to give people the best skin of their lives — and the confidence that comes with it. Our company was acquired in 2003 by the Estée Lauder Companies who placed the R+F skincare Regimens in department stores. In 2007, the founding doctors made the unprecedented move to leave retail stores and buy the company back. Believing that word-of-mouth is an authentic way to share information about our products, our doctors relaunched under the name Rodan + Fields in 2008 using a Consumer Connected Commerce business model. In 2022, Rodan + Fields launched into the haircare category – the best of your life starts at the root. Dr. Rodan and Dr. Fields’? commitment to making the world better inspired them to found the Rodan + Fields Prescription for Change Foundation, which gives young people access to life-changing empowerment programs

ESG/Ethical Impact

To responsibly lead and support business growth, we set ambitious goals in 2020 across a range of ESG initiatives. Our ESG strategy – Do Good – and related goals are a critical driver of our vision to have a life-changing impact on people and the planet and, with this purpose, we are better able to meet the changing needs of our business and expectations of our stakeholders. As outlined in this report, we remained focused on the areas that our business has the greatest ability to impact – cultivating a more diverse and inclusive brand and developing more sustainable operations and products. Our deep commitment to advance diversity, equity and inclusion continued in 2022. For the fourth consecutive year, we achieved pay equity across gender and race/ethnicity, and reached new Consultants with culturally relevant tools and trainings. Through the Rodan + Fields Prescription for Change project, we invested over $2 million to empower young people and protect the environment. We focused on building a more sustainable business and product portfolio. We set a near-term reduction target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that was approved by the Science Based Target initiative. We launched our new haircare line in more sustainable packaging, which contains 50% post-consumer recycled plastic. Our efforts to design more circular packaging resulted in the release of our second refillable product – Instant Targeted Firming Gel. Cost-effective changes to our U.S. operations resulted in the elimination of 33,000 pounds of paper annually.
