NYISO

10 Krey Blvd, Rensselaer, NY 12144

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) applies cutting-edge technology to operating a reliable electricity system, managing open markets for wholesale electricity, and planning for the Empire State’s energy future. Simply put – We keep the lights on! Over 19 million New Yorkers depend on us to keep the lights on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at the lowest possible cost. We do this through operating competitive wholesale markets that manage the flow of electricity across NY – from the power producers who generate it to the local utilities that deliver it to residents and businesses. Our office is located near Albany, and offers a walking trail, gym, on-site cafeteria with breakfast, lunch and Starbucks coffee. We take pride in recruiting, developing and retaining highly talented and diverse individuals. We offer competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits and innovative reward programs. Our benefits package promotes health and well-being for our employees and their families.

ESG/Ethical Impact

Since the company’s inception in 1999, preserving electric system reliability has been a top priority for the NYISO. As we progress toward the state’s public policy goals and new technology transforms the system, the way in which we plan for and meet reliability requirements must also change. New York’s public policies emphasize clean energy production and a rapid transition away from fossil fuels. The NYISO is at the forefront of this transition, working to achieve state emissions mandates with a balanced approach that maintains electric system reliability.
