We have chosen the occasion of the retirement of Julie Kirsch, Meriwest’s CEO for the past ten years, to remind ourselves and our community of the commitment to superior service and performance she helped create and foster at Meriwest Credit Union. It began with our name change in 1999, from Pacific IBM to the more encompassing Meriwest … combining the “merits” of our past with the inspiring future of the “west.” This change fostered a culture we now call The Meriwest Way. You will find the tenets of The Meriwest Way in the pages of this report, along with an outline of the “PRIDE” it inspires. The Meriwest Way means being superior in every way: our financial performance, our products and services, and our service to our community. It is reflected in Meriwest’s accomplishments this year, and in our community service every day. As market needs shifted from borrowing to maximizing earnings on deposits, Meriwest responded. Not only did we offer a progression of great certificate products to members, we refreshed our money market offering as Money Market Max. Together these products, with market-leading returns to help our members face growing inflation, represent over $275 million in deposits. Nowhere was The Meriwest Way, and our drive to improve products and services, more apparent in 2022 than in our Digital Banking transformation. Solid teamwork across the entire credit union led to the early 2023 launch of our industry-leading online and mobile banking platform. In addition to a more intuitive banking experience integrated across all platforms, innovations include safe, convenient P2P payments; receipt management; credit score access; cash-back rewards; and a secure, intelligent chatbot.
