Jack in the Box has relatively minimal market share within its packaging suppliers’ capacity. We will always strive to constantly improve and further the sustainability of the products that we procure and sell to our customers; however, we must balance the progression of sustainability with the objective of managing our business in a fiscally responsible manner. Notwithstanding the foregoing, we are committed to working towards increasing the sustainability of our packaging. By 2030, we, in conjunction with the capabilities of our suppliers, aim to: Reduce the amount of virgin plastic in our packaging 20% below 2020 levels (in June 2020, approximately 8% of our packaging was comprised of virgin plastic, which remains at approximately 8% as of June 2023); Have the majority of fiber packaging material to be produced from recycled or originate from certified sustainable sources (as of June 2023, approximately 85. 3% of our fiber packaging met this standard); and Expand our model of offering single-use plastics such as straws and bags upon request only, as is current practice in select jurisdictions where it’s legally required. As of June 2023, approximately 40. 8% of our total food packaging spend went towards the purchase of compostable materials.
