The chain’s menu features just four basic items — hamburgers, cheeseburgers, the Double-Double (two patties and two slices of cheese), and french fries — but patrons are free to customize how their hamburger is prepared. The chain famously does not use microwaves, heat lamps, or freezers, and it has no franchise operators. In-N-Out does offer on-site catering for parties and events with its In-N-Out Cookout Trailers. Harry and Esther Snyder started the family-owned company in 1948.
