Once just a force in Spain, IBERDROLA has established itself as a major global player in the power industry over the past few years. In 2010 it served 30 million customers in Europe and the Americas, and it owns hydroelectric, fossil-fueled, nuclear, and renewable power generation facilities with a capacity of about 45,000 MW (including 25,600 MW in Spain, 7,000 MW in the UK, 5,600 MW in the US, and 5,570 MW in Mexico and Guatemala). The company is putting a major focus on being the world leader in developing renewable energy plants, primarily wind power facilities, and had some 13,000 MW of installed capacity in 2011 and a project pipeline of more than 62,610 MW.
