The E.ON Group is one of Europe’s largest operators of energy networks and energy infrastructure and a provider of innovative customer solutions for approx. 48 million customers. Thus, we are decisively driving forward the energy transition in Europe and are committed to sustainability, climate protection, and the future of our planet. And these are not just words: We act – instead of just make promises. We lead the way – not just follow. We rely on the power of the community – and not on individual interests, without having an overarching goal.

Sustainability is the centerpiece of E.ON’s strategy and—in every dimension—will be the standard for our future actions. An integrated report provides our stakeholders with a holistic and transparent view of our financial, environmental, and social performance. Although its contents largely reflect TCFD’s recommendations, it is not meant to be a stand-alone TCFD report. Rather, it draws on our annual TCFD financial and sustainability disclosures as well as discussions with our investors to address issues that go beyond these disclosures. The energy world is steadily becoming more distributed, digital, and decarbonised. E.ON has decided to issue Green Bonds to finance and / or refinance projects related to Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Clean Transportation which fits perfectly to E.ON’s core businesses and sustainable strategy. We have based our sustainability reporting on Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines since 2005. The GRI guidelines are the result of a transparent, multi-stakeholder process and consist of performance indicators for all sectors and all types of organizations. Thereby, GRI helps businesses, governments and other organizations understand and communicate their sustainability impacts. E.ON became an official TCFD supporter in 2019, marking the start of our reporting on climate-related risks and opportunities. TCFD’s widely adopted recommendations on climate-related financial disclosures center around four thematic areas that represent core elements of how organizations operate: governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets. E.ON has long scored well in leading sustainability ratings. In addition, our sustainability activities in individual countries and on a wider scale frequently receive outside recognition. Below are a number of ratings that are relevant to our company as a whole.
