The previous winter issue of Connections spoke about A.Y. McDonald’s “WMS” initiative, which stands for “Where’s My Stuff?” and is simply focused on our efforts to get more product out the door to our customers. We are driven by the fact that “The Customer is the Boss.” Those are not just words; they are at the core of our values and what gives us purpose and focus. To that point, we are adding to our family of co-workers at a pace we have never seen before. Our capital investments are surpassing any historical benchmarks. Most importantly our collective team is working together to continue to find creative ways to get the most out of the resources we have, resulting in increased production and shipments. While we are all extremely proud of the work we are doing to take care of the boss, we realize that our efforts aren’t being felt out in the field. Output continues to grow at a record pace as does demand. While this trend continues, the desired relief of improved lead times will remain a challenge. Although yet to be seen by our industry, signs of economic slowdown loom. Despite this fact, we remain focused on the long-term and continue to press forward with efforts that expand our output. The unprecedented investments being made today will benefit us all in the years to come. As others may choose to hedge and wait, we choose to plan and press on.
