Today, farmers and ranchers all over the world are prioritizing producing more while using less—and the U. S. is no exception. At Yesterday’s Sustainable Agriculture Summit in Las Vegas, Senior Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer Kelly Bengston announced an exciting new pilot and partnership with one of our largest Florida dairy farms. As part of her keynote address, Bengston announced that Starbucks has launched their first on-farm pilot through U. S. Dairy Net Zero Initiative with Alliance Dairy, “a farm that is woman-owned and operated, and has a strong record of sustainability, including water reuse and converting methane into biogas. Alliance Dairy was an early adopter and has been producing renewable energy from manure since 2012. As part of this pilot, a full suite of technologies, like evaporative nutrient recovery, will be explored with the goal of helping Alliance Dairy to become a source of renewable and organic fertilizer and water reuse, while significantly reducing GHG emissions. ”
